A packed house at Toronto's Koerner Hall hailed the release of an innovative collaboration between world-renowned DJ Skratch Bastid, the Afiara String Quartet, and four young Toronto composers including Rob.
The Afiara commissioned the four composer to write new works for string quartet inspired by popular themes. Each of these works is then remixed by renowned DJ Skratch Bastid, creating four new solo works for scratch DJ. Rob has signed on to score the upcoming feature documentary "This is Gay Propaganda", which tells the story of LGTB in Ukraine and how they are affected by the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution (pictured below, photo by Tomas Rafa) and subsequent conflict with Russia in Eastern Ukraine.
Directed by Ryerson University film professor Marusya Bociurkiw, the film will be released in late 2015.
Directed by the young Venezuelan-Canadian director Jorge Thielen Armand, the short documentary FLOR DE LA MAR is a stunning portrait of a remote island community of fishermen holding an archeological treasure under threat from a corrupt Venezualan government.
Shortly after, the film won the Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the Cine Las Americas Festival in Austin, Texas. Other festival screenings include the Sarasota Film Festival in Florida and the Green Film Festival in Seoul.
